Climate
This biome
occurs in dry contintental areas. Although it recieves
more rainfall than the Chaparral biome, it still only
recieves 25 - 75cm a year.
This leads
to its characteristic summer droughts.
Plants
- The vegetation is as you
would expect mostly grasses. They can survive the summer
droughts because they have roots which reach deep into
the subsoil. This means they can take water from the water table in the dry periods.
Animals
- This area is native to
smaller hardy animals, But humans have introduced things
such as Cattle, Sheep and Goats. This has led to severe
soil erosion in some parts. There are still animals such
as hares and foxes.
That is the
Temperature Grassland Biome, although please note that it's very
linked to the Savana and experiences human induced
desertification processes.
