Silt-Up-

Used to describe the process by which sediment is deposited at entrances of lakes and in river estuaries. This is due to the water flowing at a slower speed, normally due to the river becoming flater and wider. This sediment will grow into islands and eventually block off the entrance or alter the flow of the river. It may result in the formation of Terrestrial land, Oxbow lakes and meanders.
